Mr. Tiecheng Cui's Collection----Paintings And Photos On Old Beijing

The following is photos taken by a French team in Beijing in 1909. It reflects the life of people in Beijing in the past.
One day in 1993, he went to a free market in Yuanwumen to look for some old items. He first bought a jade ware cost him 800 Yuan. Then he sat at another stall by a bag of old things. Suddenly, something made his eyes shining. It's a pile of old photos. The seller asked for only 300 Yuan. But Mr. Cui has run out of his money. And he gave the jade hs just bought to the vendor and get the photos. His friends laugh at him for his silly action. Giving 800 Yuan worth jade for such pedlary!

They don't know the vale of these photos. They are the true record of old Beijing. What treasure source they are!

A shoes repairman is sitting at the wall mending shoes. Hand push carts are one of the frequently tools used to load goods.

The shoudle pole is another tool used to carry things, water, foods, etc. which is common and convenient. It is called Mile Buddha. The symbol of happiness.
You can see a woman wearing a big cap. It's the cap worn by Man nationality women in Qing Dynasty. An old man is having meal at a food stall.
Maybe he found the frenchman taking photos for him. He must be very curious about that for he never saw cameras before that.
